DELTA DRILL.png

DELTA DRILL

Most internet/Instagram Challenges are static and this leads to serious limitations for the shooter. Example, a static top shot will not fare well in a competition setting. So, to push shooters to expand their skill while shooting on the move, I designed a set of ALL-Movement challenges for both Pistol and Rifle.

The Challenge is called Delta because the area of shooting is shaped like a Delta/Triangle or the 4th letter of the Greek alphabet Δ.

If you complete the DELTA Drill in the time allotted, you will be awarded the DELTA PATCH and have your name among a brotherhood of Top shooters.

THE CHALLENGE:

Set 3 USPSA targets separated by 1 meter/1.1 yards from each other and at 7 meters/7.7 yards from B and C.
Then set up the Delta Δ as its shown in the stage plan bellow.

  1. Shooter will START in the position A and at the beep, move to B position, before it arrives and ALWAYS ON THE MOVE shooter must shoot 5 shots into Alpha Zone of Target 1.

  2. Then in sideways movement to position C, shoot 2 shots into Alpha zone and 1 shot into Alpha zone of the head (credit card) on Target 2.

  3.  Finally, from position C back to position A while moving backwards, shooter will shoot 5 shots in Alpha zone of Target 3.

  4. The order can be reversed meaning instead of A-B-C the shooter can go A-C-B.

ALL SHOOTS MUST BE PERFORMED WHILE MOVING! NO EXCEPTIONS!
(It's the whole point of this drill as anyone can do this by moving AND shooting)

Shooter decides if he goes for Pistol or Rifle first. Pistol Run is run with the weapon holstered. Hand position not important but shooter can't touch the pistol. Rifle starting position free.

The Drill NEEDS TO BE RUN BACK-TO-BACK meaning both Pistol and Rifle run can't have any misses and MUST be ran bellow the allotted time.

PISTOL
RUN 1: 5 shoots in Alpha of Target 1. 2 shots in Body (Alpha), 1 shot head (Alpha/credit card) in Target 2 and 5 shots in Alpha of Target 3.

RIFLE

RUN 2: 5 shoots in Alpha of Target 1. 2 shots in Body (Alpha), 1 shot head (Alpha/credit card) in Target 2 and 5 shots in Alpha of Target 3.

The pass time for both RUNS is bellow 13s.

(this gives an average of 6.5s per RUN)
For clarification, shooter needs to shoot bellow the time stamp, example: Both Sets need to be completed under 13s so 12.99s is the slowest the shooter can execute both Runs for the Delta Patch.

1 MISS = FAIL. OVERTIME = FAIL / NO JOKERS, NO SECOND CHANCES, NO MAKE UP SHOTS.

Infinite MULLIGANS (shooter shouldn’t be punished for a clothing mishap or bad grip).

Any shot that is missing the scoring area designates the run as a failure. This means that no additional rounds can be fired to make up any missed rounds.
The Challenge can be run with any pistol (minimum of 9mm or greater caliber) and belt setup (concealment, open class, duty rig). Hands don't touch pistol for draw. Rifle minimum of 5.56mm or greater caliber.
